Support, advocate and advance awareness of glass as an art form in Virginia.
The 31st Annual Juried Exhibition will be juried by Hank Murta Adams, Creative Director of the Glass Studio at Wheaton Arts.
Awards total $2,1000 from the Virginia Glass Guild.
Show runs from October 13th to December 2nd, 2018, with reception and award ceremony on Sunday, October 14th from 6-8 PM.
Entrants must be living or working in Virginia. New members may join at time of entry.
You may enter up to three (3) original pieces of work. Note that gallery space constraints or juror’s decisions may mean artwork is not selected into the show. Work must not have been previously exhibited at the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center.
*Mixed media artwork submitted must be comprised of at least 30% glass elements.*
Artwork requiring unusual installation will be the responsibility of the artist to install and deinstall. VGG reserves the right to remove artwork in the show that is difficult to install and/or hang.
Artwork must be delivered to The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center by the dates and times listed below.
*Selected artists who have installation pieces or other works that involve assembly should make arrangements with CHTAC to be available during installation week to install their own artwork.
Drop off times are Thurs and Fri Oct 4th and 5th, noon-5 pm, Sat and Sun Oct 6th and 7th, 1pm-6pm. Installation can be scheduled with CHTAC Oct 8-10th. Artwork not installed by that time will not be eligible for awards.
Shipped artwork must arrive at the above address by Weds, October 3, 2017.
You must include a pre-paid return shipping label. The artist is responsible for all shipping costs.
Any artwork not picked up at the show’s end on December 2nd will incur a $25.00/day storage fee.
VGG and HAC will take all reasonable precautions and procedures to protect artwork on display. Hampton Arts Commission (HAC), The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center, and the Virginia Glass Guild cannot be held responsible for loss, damage, or theft of work, however.
Items may be sold but must remain in the show until it ends (i.e. delivery after show’s end).
The HAC will collect a 40% commission on each piece sold (split 30% HAC &10% VGG). Price your work accordingly.
Again: no artwork may be removed prior to the end of the show.
Please note a separate Small Works Exhibition runs concurrently with the Juried Exhibition. Please refer to that prospectus for information on entry to that show - DO NOT enter pieces for Small Works Exhibition via this form.
